The Arcanum Trojan Homecoming Event awarded five seniors with the Alumni scholarships of $1,000 each to use towards higher education. Austin Baker, Margaret Heiser, Shelby Howard, Alexis Kreusch, and Emily Miller were selected by the scholarship committee and received their awards at the recent Homecoming Event held April 16 at the cafetorium.
Congrats to the Franklin-Monroe High School Prom Queen Carrie Baker and King Jared Bundenthal. The princess was Danielle Nestor and prince was Derek Lusher. Franklin Monroe’s Prom was April 30, at the Concord Room at the Crystal Room in Troy.
Arcanum High School’s Prom was held at The Fort Piqua Plaza on April 30 and crowned King and Queen were Zach Norris and Elizabeth Riley. Congrats to King Zach and Queen Elizabeth, Prince Brandon Kinney, and Princess Shelby Horzsa!
Congrats to the Arcanum High School Concert Band on earning an II at State Contest! Mr. Doug Albright and the HS band members have worked hard again this year and have had an exceptional school year. Additionally, Mr. Albright has announced his retirement at the end of this school year, he will be sorely missed.
The A# concession Trailer will once again this year be up at Old Fashioned Days and they are looking for people to work. There will be an afternoon and an evening shift on Friday, morning, afternoon, and evening shifts on Saturday, and morning and afternoon shifts on Sunday. Plan to attend the Arcanum Fire Department Annual Pancake Breakfast during the Old Fashion Days on Saturday, May 21st. They will serve pancakes and sausage between 6 and 9:30 a.m. Cost is $8 per person and all of the proceeds will be used within the fire company to buy uniforms and other items needed. Our local firefighters appreciate your support!
The Arcanum FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) Chapter recently returned from the 2016 State Leadership Conference. While there, several team and individual competitions took place. While each member’s accomplishments our noteworthy, the most worthwhile accomplishment was helping to package 70,000 meals for the Meals of Hope. Meals of Hope is an organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger utilizing a hands on approach where volunteers come together to assemble highly nutritious meals. These meals are distributed primarily through the Feeding America network and, they are also given to schools as part of a Back Pack Nutrition Program. The Arcanum FCCLA Chapter had 10 members and their Adviser, Mrs. Carroll attend the 2016 Conference.
Congrats to Arcanum High School seniors who have signed commitments to further their sports careers at the next level. Erica Zimmer who set a new school record in the discus throw, the record is now 124 feeet 8 inches has made her commitment to attend Otterbein College and continue her track and field career, Austin Gibboney committed to Tiffin University to continue his track and field career as well. Conner Pohl has committed to Ohio State, specifically to the OSU baseball team on the pitching rotation. Alexis Abner will play basketball at Edison Community College. Haleigh Shaffer has committed to Indiana University East to play golf! Wow, congratulations!
