On May 10 the Union City Lions hosted their biannual Ladies’ Night for the members and their spouses. The program chairs for this event were: Rick Gettinger, Blake Clevenger and Doug LeMaster.

The excellent entertainment for the evening was Amanda Livingston, singer and guitarist. At the meeting Roger “Flip” Hoover was presented an “Honorary President” certificate.

The Union City Lions made a donation to the organizations from the Union City High School who helped with the Lion Pancake Day held on April 9. Organizations that provided student helpers were: AVID, NHS, SADD, and the wrestling team. Thanks to all who supported this Lions’ fundraiser.’

The 2016 State Line Heritage Days committee is getting an early start on our annual fundraiser that helps to cover the cost of our free entertainment offered to the public during the festival. Chances to win a 2010 EZ-GO Electric RXV golf cart with/charger can be purchased at the following businesses in Union City: CARTS & PARTS, Jo’s Corner Florist, State Farm Insurance, Citizens State Bank and Aukerman’s Tire Service. Tickets are also available at El Carreton in Winchester and will be sold during various events throughout the county. Tickets are $10. No more than 600 will be sold. The drawing will be held on the Main Stage during the final night of the festival Aug. 6. You do not need to be present to win.

For the little kid in us all this Saturday at 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Trinity Community Church, located at 361 Lutheran Terrace in Union City, Indiana, will host a Spring Carnival. Games, prizes, raffles, petting zoo, bouncy house, live entertainment (Pete Mercer), face painting, Police, Fire & EMS, dunk tank, bake sale, cake walk. Free game tickets for every non-perishable food item donated! All canned goods and proceeds from the event go to help the Union City Community Help Center and several local church banks. Don’t miss the fun!

Today at 9 p.m. at the Arts Depot in Union City is the opening of Fine Art Photography of Leslie Liszak and Joe Halberstadt.

Benefit for Tim and Shelly King will be held at the FireHouse Pipes on Saturday at 6 p.m. featuring the Fire House Band. Please join for an evening of music, celebration and fund-raising as Union City shows its support for Tim and Shelly King! All donations will go directly to Tim and Shelly. It’s our chance to show them just how much we care.
