Arcanum News: Vacation Bible Schools in the area

Immanuel Baptist Church invites all the children and youth of the community to join them this year as they take a wild ride through God’s word at the Avalanche Ranch. Each day attendees will learn a Bible point, hear a story, and memorize a Bible verse on the focus that God is the only true god, God is with us, he is our strength, he is awesome and we should obey his commandments.

So come join all the cowgirls and boys at a VBS Western wonderland at IBC located at 500 W. South St., Arcanum on June 13-17 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 3 years old to sixth grade. For more information, please call Pastor Greg or Pastor Dan at 937/692-8188.

Are you ready for a life-changing adventure taking place at Calvary Bible Church, located at 9462 State Route 571, Arcanum (one mile west of Laura)? Deep Sea Discovery VBS begins each day at Celebration Reef, where kids will sing, shout, praise, pray, and be introduced to a Bible story and the daily theme. Then after kids experience the other activities of the day, they gather back at Celebration Reef to be encouraged to love God and to be motivated to serve others. Other sites at Deep Sea Discovery include S.S. Discovery, where kids will explore the Bible story in a variety of interactive ways: Pelican Pier, where kids have time to move around, have fun, and fill up on snacks. Curiosity Cavern, where kids explore the mysteries of the sea through science and crafts, and E.C.H.O. Sea Sub, where kids are encouraged to serve others! All these fun activities connect to the Bible Story, Bible memory and the truth that God is with us wherever we go! Castine Church of the Brethren, 624 US 127, Arcanum 937-678-9945, will hold their annual VBS June 20-24 from 9 to 11:45 a.m. each day. This year’ theme is entitle “Submerged.” Kids will have the opportunity to dive past the surface and go deeper into God’s Word and this is an adventure that will take everyone in attendance not only to the depths of the ocean but to the depths of their own hearts as well. All will be challenged to let God not only search their hearts, but to reveal the truths of their hearts as well. Coming in July at Pleasant View Missionary Church will be “Cave Quest” Vacation Bible School starting on July 11-15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cave Quest – Following Jesus the Light of the World will be open to all children ages 5 through those entering into the 5th grade in the fall. PV is located at 5231 Gettysburg Pitsburg Road, Greenville. For more information, please phone the church office at (937) 447-3885. Cave Quest promises to be an underground VBS adventure for all teaching us and helping us ground our children in God’s word.

Don’t forget this Saturday is the ice cream social at Gordon United Methodist Church, 311 East St., Gordon, with delicious, home-made ice cream from 5 to 7 p.m. Flavors include vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, peanut butter, pineapple, lemon and peach. Always good food, fun, and fellowship for the community – organizers state that all are welcome!

Arcanum Pool, located on Pool Drive at the end of Ivestor Lane, is open with hours of operation are Monday through Friday noon to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. Ladies’ Aqua Aerobics classes will begin today from 11 a.m. to noon every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The pool will open at 10:30 a.m. on these days, all ladies are welcome. Cost is $45 or a senior citizen’s pool pass.
