Union City News: Meet, greet race drivers

Firehouse Pipes announces “meet and greet” the race drivers on Friday at 226 N. Plum St., Union City, Indiana. Race cars will be on display and the Firehouse Band will perform.

The event opens at 8 a.m. and will last until 11 p.m. A western BBQ buffet will be served. A pipe organ demonstration will also be given. Seating is limited. For reservations call 765 232 4675 or 765 584 3266. Tickets are $10 per person.

The Preservation Society will sponsor a picnic lunch July 4 at 105 N. Columbia St., in the Community Room. Serving begins at 11 and lasts until 1 p.m. Cost is $5 per person and all veterans will eat free. Join the fun.

Note for a future event, of the Preservation Society is on Aug. 27. The Gardens, Pool and Deck tour of three gardens in Union City area. This is a ticketed event and includes dinner. Tickets are available for 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30, at $25 per person. Call Ted Leahey for reservations at 765-964-5370.

Saturday, the public is invited to attend a “Chalk the Walk at 9 a.m. at the corner of West Pearl and North Columbia streets. Sidewalk chalk will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to give 30 minutes or more in the morning to help beautify the downtown area in preparation for the upcoming announcement. Union City, Indiana, is one of three finalists for the Stellar Grant.

This past week, Lieutenant Governor of Indiana Eric Holcomb toured Union City, visiting the Arts Depot, the Carol Strock Wasson Gallery, the Union City Museum, Backstay Welt Company and the Art Hub. The tour lasted several hours and Lt. Gov. Holcomb was greatly impressed to see the work that has been accomplished in a small community. Holcomb toured all the sites of the Stellar Grant applicants and Union City is one of the three Stellar Community finalists.

Preparing for the third annual Arts Festival and we are asking for your financial support. Union City – REDEFINED, Inc., believes strongly in the future of Union City and are dedicated to making our community not only a better place for current residents but a place where others will want to visit, live and engage in business. One way of calling attention to the community is our annual Arts Festival. Sept. 9, 10 and 11, Union City will host the third Annual Union City Arts Festival (“Two Tickets to Paradise”) – featuring Eddie Money, a celebration of the arts, music and culture. Listed below are sponsorships that are still available.

Sponsorship categories

Corporate sponsorships

$2500 Preferred Platinum

This category will include recognition of corporate, local business, organization or individual name, email and number (if desired) in all program and promotional materials regarding the Arts Festival. Preferred Platinum sponsors will also receive 25 VIP tickets good for all performances on both Friday and Saturday. Air conditioned private restrooms and preferred parking available. Platinum level Sponsors will also be identified as a major sponsor on large banners attached to the fence surrounding the Festival area.

$1000 Club

This category will include recognition of corporate, local business, organization or individual name, email and number (if desired) in all program and promotional materials regarding the Arts Festival. $1000 Club sponsors will also receive 10 tickets good for all performances on both Friday and Saturday. This level of support will also be honored with a fence banner with name and corporate logo.

$500 Gold

This category will include donor name designated in all program and promotional materials regarding the Arts Festival, if desired. $500 Gold sponsors will receive 5 tickets for all performances on both Friday and Saturday. These sponsors will also be named on a fence banner.

$250 Silver

This category will include donor name designated in all program and promotional materials regarding the arts festival, if desired. Silver level donors will also be named on a banner with other silver level donors

$100 Bronze

This category will include donor name designated in all program and promotional materials regarding the arts festival, if desired.

Alumni Club – $1000

$1000 Alumni Club sponsors will receive 10 tickets for all performances on both Friday and Saturday. Additionally, all alumni club sponsors will have access to an alumni tent and a banner with the class identification will be placed on or near the tent reserved for alumni sponsors.
