Things are buzzing in Union City. Volunteers are busily preparing for the upcoming State Line Heritage Days July 29 – Aug. 1.

The 12th annual Photography Show at Historic Arts Depot will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and 4 to 7 on Saturday. This “Summertime” show proves to be an exciting show. Vicki Vardaman, director of the A.A.R.C., is a photographer herself and has busy working with photographers so it is expected for a large turnout and great opportunity to see local photographers work. Don’t miss it!

The Randy Players continue to provide laughs and entertainment at their melodrama. If you haven’t seen a ‘melodrama,’ you are in for a treat. Laughs, improvisation and interruptions by the local trains cause chaos and a fun-filled evening. The melodrama will be performed each evening under the Big Tent on July 29, 8 p.m. July 30, 7 p.m. on July 31 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 1.

At 6 p.m. on July 30, is a Root Beer Guzzling contest. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Jeri Liebert will lead a hymn sing at the big tent in Railroad Park on July 30 at 6 pm. Under the Big Tent on Broadway at 6 p.m. The South Salem church of Christ is sponsoring an Old Time Revival. The Big Ginja Show will be at Railroad Park 7 to 9 p.m. on the July 30 also.

At 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the Open Air Market and Antique Tractor Display will open at Railroad Park. Stop by and see your favorite antique tractor equipment. It is a fun journey back in time. The Union City, Ohio, Fire and Rescue Association will sponsor a Cruise-In from 5-9. So you can see there is something for everyone, arts, rides, vehicles, antique cars, melodrama, food, entertainment and more, all in downtown Union City at State Line Heritage Days July 29 – Aug. 1. What is a volunteer? “A person who voluntarily undertakes or expresses a willingness to undertake a service. “ Volunteers are needed in every aspect of our communities today. They make festivals happen, they save historic buildings, provide workers at blood draws, provide glasses, make an event happen, mow a neighbor’s yard, take a meal to a friend, help with the youth, coach, clean up highways. Opportunities abound in the State Line Heritage Days to volunteer, but also everyone to take a look around and see how you can help a friend, neighbor or group. Volunteer today and you can make a difference in your community.
