It’s a BOY! Tim and Lauren Cline would like to announce the birth of their first child, a boy, Joshua James. Joshua was born October 3 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 21 inches long. Proud grandparents are Tammy Cline and Mike Stump of Arcanum, and Cindy Stokdyk of Delphi, Indiana. The doctor who delivered Joshua was the same doctor that was supposed to deliver Tim, 28 1/2 years ago before Tim decided that he wanted to make a hasty entrance to the world a month early. Tim, AHS class of 2006, is currently employed by the Covington Police Department and works as the School Resource Officer for the Covington Schools. Lauren is employed by the Greenville Public Library. Congratulation to the Cline Family!

Third son born to the Clopps! Alexander Weston Clopp was born October 3, at 10:12 a.m. at Miami Valley Hospital weighing 5 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 19 ½ inches in length. Alex was born to Timothy and Holly Clopp of rural Arcanum. Alex was welcomed home by big brothers Joey and Calen. Proud grandparents are Harvey and Lynne Hinshaw and the late Joe Gunckle; and Patrick and Candy Clopp of Greenville. Great-grandparents are Leory and Kay Staley of Greenville. May your household never be the same!

Blue FFA Jackets Arrive in Arcanum! New FFA Jackets have arrived in Arcanum for the first time in 20+ years. Arcanum Students will again be wearing the FFA Jacket as they represent their school with pride at Local, State, and National Events. Zipping up the official FFA blue corduroy jackets connects these students with the more than half a million FFA members across the nation. Official dress certainly causes FFA members to stand out in a crowd. Congratulations!

Next week is our annual food drive sponsored by the Arcanum National Honor Society at Arcanum High School! This year the middle school is teaming up with the high school to help more people in Arcanum. The goal this year is to collect 5,000 items between the Middle School and High School. The building that brings in the most items will get to throw a pie at their principal! During the school week, students are encouraged to bring in non-perishable items to school. Friday at the final home football game of the year, fans can bring money to donate or a canned food item and get one dollar off admission to the game! On Sunday, October 30th during Trick or Treat, Arcanum High Students students will be canvassing the community to collect items donated by the Arcanum community. If you would like to help but will not be home during the Trick or Treat event, please leave your items on your front porch or drop them off at the high school. Please help us feed those in need in Arcanum! Please share this information with our Arcanum community so that we can make a tremendous difference to citizens!

Trick or Treat in Arcanum will be on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. You’ll also want to make plans for the Halloween Parade and Annual Bean Supper on Thursday, Oct. 27 – starting at approximately 4 p.m. Parade line up will be at the field house beginning at 6 p.m.

In celebration of National School Bus Safety Week last week — thank you Arcanum-Butler Local School District bus drivers for keeping our bus riders safe. We appreciate all you do!

“October is the fallen leaf, but it is also a wider horizon more clearly seen. It is the distant hills once more in sight, and the enduring constellations above them once again.” ~Hal Borland
