The weather has been devastating around the nation but it has proven one thing: we are one. Despite the political disarray and the disagreements on what direction is best for the United States, the outpouring of financial support and physical assistance has defined again the bond that pulls this country together. It is disheartening to see the damage to places we have visited or to know family or friends who live in the disaster zones. At home we are approaching the season of crop harvests with beans turning yellow and corn drying and dropping dried ears downward.
September will bring garage sales in New Madison. Take time to consider what might be useful to those in need and check for church and charitable distribution sites. You can mark the last weekend for the sales. Great bargains and fun items make garage sales worth checking. Think – do I want to store it or sale it? Think – should I make room and buy it?
There will be an early release day from Tri-Village this month. On Wednesday, September 27 students will be released at 1:15 p.m.
A special congratulations this week: Elizabeth Moss (7th Grade in Kountry Kids 4-H Club) won Dairy Goat Beginner Showmanship Champion, Reserve Champion Dairy Market Goat and was awarded the Reserve Champion Beginner Outstanding Market Goat Exhibitor. This was her first year showing goats at the fair. It was also exciting for her parents, Charlotte and Tim Moss.
