Have you seen Glamour Magazine’s October issue featuring a local breast cancer survivor who is making a difference here at home? Heather Salazar of Tipp City, is the granddaughter of Arcanum residents Dave and Marybeth Printz, and is the executive director of Pink Ribbon Girls, which provides personalized support to women throughout all phases of the breast cancer journey. Pink Ribbon Girls is an Ohio-based charity that delivers healthy prepared meals to patients undergoing breast cancer treatment—and provides housekeeping, transportation, and peer support. “Last year we shipped more than 35,000 meals,” says Salazar, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 31 and is working to expand the organization nationally. “Our goal is that each patient spends her healthy moments with her family or doing whatever is important to her.” The diagnosis came two years after she and her husband had adopted a little girl who mother died of breast cancer at age 24. Heather now calls that woman her angel. Salazar is one of five women featured in Glamour for helping other women fight the disease. Heather’s parents are AHS graduates Dale and Susan (Byrum) Printz of Tipp City.
