Arcanum News: Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Happy Thanksgiving! The beauty of the Lord is that, he gives even without being asked, helps without being seen, and stays even when we forget to say thank you. I take this day to thank you God for everything. May you also have plenty of reasons to thank God.

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends, so why not take this opportunity to let those near and dear ones know how much you appreciate having them in your life?

Tonight at Immanuel Baptist Church will be a special fundraiser to support the Arcanum High School Band. It’s a TUPPERWARE PARTY! This will be an open house from 6 to 9 p.m. and 40 percent of the Fundraiser Sales from the catalog will go straight to the band for their Disney Trip. Everyone is Welcome! The church is located at 500 W. South St., Arcanum.

Come downtown Arcanum this weekend and support local businesses. Burning Maple Farm will be set up inside Young at Heart from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The AWTHS is having their Christmas Bazaar is at 128 W. George St. in Arcanum in the Historical Building. This year’s event will begin with festive luminaries lining the sidewalks on Friday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for the Opening Night Sale. The bazaar continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. until closing at 5:30 p.m.

As always, the historical society guarantees the price of every item offered to be the lowest price of the Christmas Season and each item is one-of-a-kind and a treasure. Christmas shopping starts on the front porch of the historical building and continues inside and into each and every room. Come and enjoy browsing and getting into the Christmas spirit!

The Arcanum VFW Post 4161 Men’s Auxiliary wishes to thank all the area sponsors who helped them have a very successful golf outing fundraiser on Oct. 25. Thanks again for your support!

At the recent November board of education meeting, the Arcanum-Butler Board of Education voted unanimously to approve an agreement between the district and the Miami Valley Career Technology Center for a satellite agricultural program to begin in the 2016-17 school year.

While additional planning is still needed, classes will be offered starting in the eighth grade through the high school. Arcanum-Butler will provide the classroom space and MVCTC will provide the instructor, curriculum and resources for the program. More information about the classes to be offered will be forthcoming. Also, returning with the Ag Program will be a local FFA chapter.

The Arcanum-Butler Board of Education and Administration would like to thank the MVCTC for helping bring Agricultural Education back to Arcanum!

It’s that time of year again for the senior citizens of the Arcanum-Butler Local School District to enjoy a nice lunch and some great entertainment from the students of Arcanum-Butler Local Schools! This free lunch will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 in the cafetorium. Please RSVP by calling 692-5174 Ext. 1337 by Dec. 1.

Congratulations to Shai Robinson, Brittany Kinney, Emily Miller and Rebecca Deao for being selected to the District 9 All-Star Volleyball team. Shai Robinson and Brittany Kinney were selected on the 2nd Team. Rebecca Deao and Emily Miller earned Honorable Mention. In addition Rebecca and Emily will played in the senior all star game on Nov. 18 at Troy. Congratulations!

Congrats to Abbie Bruns for signing her letter of intent to play softball at Lincoln Memorial University!

Congratulations to the AHS Band for scoring a Superior rating at the state marching band competition! We are proud of you!

Coming in December – Candlelight Open House at Bear’s Mill on Dec. 4 from 6 to 10 p.m. This holiday season, join the Darke County Parks for an evening stroll through the Winter Wonderland on Dec. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Shawnee Prairie Preserve!
