Union City News: Lots going on in Union City this week

Let’s take a stroll through Union City this week. Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. with Christmas in the City, we can stop in and buy a small bouquet or unique homemade gift at Jo’s Florist; cross the street to The Corner Cupboard to buy Christmas Cards or a unique gift, across the street at B & J’s Antiques, you can find a unique gift for about anyone on your list, next door is My Favorite Flowers who has been doing a large amount of gift baskets all specialized, you can order one in any size you can afford.

Just to the south is the Christian Bookstore, where CD’s and faith-based books and gifts abound. Luz Tacos has the best tacos and such a friendly staff. Let’s cross the street again where you will find the Art Hub where more than 30 artists have their items for sale. Also at the Art Hub, live music, soup, apple dumplings and more in addition to snacks. On the corner of Pearl and Columbia Street sits the Union City Antique Mall where a beautiful table sits in the window just waiting for a buyer.

The Community Room is bustling with cookies, pictures with Santa and soup and sandwiches. The Little Shop of Many Things on Elm Street has a shop full of unique items, old signs, and more.

The Art Depot is filled with gifts and decorated beautifully. First Friday will be celebrated here 5 – 7 p.m. Free food, lots of conversation. Round the corner north to Oak Street and you will soon see Oak Street Antiques and the Carol Strock Wasson Gallery. Rosebud Antiques is located on the corner of Oak Street and Stateline also filled with goodies for someone special.

Back to The Community Room you can board a bus for a free ride out to Harter Park to see the four million lights. The Gift Shop at the park will also be open.

All stores will have specials, snacks and some music. So it will be a nice stroll through Union City. Don’t forget at Artisan Park there will be S’mores and Hot Chocolate with the Fire and Police Department. Other restaurants in the area include Bouser’s Barn, Pizza Hut, Pizza King, The Bowling Alley has great BBQ and D’s Restaurant with homemade goodies.

Our civic theatre group “The Randy Players” will present two shows at Hoosier Place at the corner of Walnut and Oak streets in the auditorium. They will be performing the classic play “A Wonderful Life” at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Another opportunity to warm up and sit back and relax and enjoy this class play

And at 8:30 p.m. at the Fire House Pipes located at 226 N. Plum St., an organ concert will begin. It will be warm and inviting to sit and hear this beautiful musical instrument.

The town is lighted with beautiful Christmas lights, the planters filled with fragrant greens from Wasson’s Nursery, and beautiful window displays, there might be a chill in the air, but Union City welcomes you to shop and have a fun filled family evening with us.
