ARCANUM – Two new members will be inducted into the Arcanum Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday. Julie Miller-Wolfe, class of 1989, and Paul Shahan, Class of 1961, are this year’s honorees.

Miller-Wolfe was a four-year letterman for volleyball, basketball and softball at Arcanum. In volleyball she held the career record for most points scored (383), most service aces (101), most sets (1,966) and most assists (382) from 1985 through 1988. The volleyball team tied for Cross County Conference champs, the girls basketball team was the CCC champs and the softball team was second in the CCC during her senior year.

Miller-Wolfe also received many individual awards in each sport. She attended the University of Indianapolis where she played volleyball. While there, she was voted team MVP and had the highest scoring average in 1991. She received her bachelor and master degrees in speech-language pathology.

Miller-Wolfe is a certified brain injury specialist and has worked at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Wayne for 19 years. Along with her husband, Steve, she continues to be involved in athletics through her children, Drew, Trent and Emily.

Shahan was an athletic standout at Arcanum in basketball, baseball, track and field and cross country. Among his athletic accomplishments was being a part of the basketball team that advanced to regionals in 1960. He held the pole vault record for both the school and county and advanced to the state meet in that event. He was a member of the cross country and baseball teams that each won county championships.

Shahan continued his love of basketball as a member of the basketball team at Defiance College. He was named to the all-Mid-Ohio Conference team in 1964 and 1965, was the leading scorer in 1965 and participated in the NAIA national tournament in 1963.

Shahan worked for General Motors for 34 years and retired as the administrator of forward product programs. He celebrated his 50th anniversary with his wife, Judy (Sluterbeck), who is now deceased. They have two daughters, Manda and Margaret, and four grandchildren.
