Tri-Village girls basketball team soars past Tri-County North

NEW MADISON – The Tri-Village Lady Patriots overwhelmed the visiting Tri-County North Panthers in Cross County Conference action by the score of 85-27 on Thursday.

Tri-Village jumped ahead 12-0, prompting North coach Jessica Cherry to take a timeout to regroup.

Freshman Riley Cruse came out after the timeout and got the Panthers on the board at 3:03 of the first quarter with a fielder. Moments later sophomore Cassi Stinson got a bucket, too, but that would be the only points in the quarter for North.

Tri-Village would add another 10 points to go up 22-4. Allie Downing scored six, Emma Printz and Shelbey Dowler added five, Rachel Miller had four and Danika Mann two points all in the first quarter.

TV upped the first quarter output by one tally, scoring 23 points in the second quarter, with Downing pouring in 10 of them to go up 45-11 at the half.

Cruse scored five points in the second quarter for North.

The Patriots came out after the break and added 26 more points. This time Downing scored 12 to run her total to 28, and she would be finished for the night.

Mann scored six points as well in the third quarter.

Stinson scored six of Tri-County North’s eight points in the third period, and the Panthers would trail 71-19.

In the final stanza Stinson would score four more point to lead the Panthers with 12 on the night. She got more help from Cruse with four points as well and she would end the game with 11 points.

Tri-Village got seven points including two triples from Printz, who would end the game with 16 points her highest total of the year.

Tri-Village would finish out the game with Alana Holsapple scoring four points and Autaum Moore three in the final stanza to win it by the score of 85-27.

Tri-Village will host St. Henry on Saturday while Tri-County North will travel to Preble Shawnee on Tuesday.
