Mississinawa Valley’s 4th quarter lead slips away vs. Fort Recovery

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley boys basketball team led state-ranked Fort Recovery by seven points in the fourth quarter Saturday night but ended up losing 62-53.

After playing to a 16-16 tie in the first quarter, Fort Recovery went into halftime with a 26-25 lead. Mississinawa then went up 39-38 entering the fourth quarter. The Blackhawks led 47-40 with five-and-a-half minutes remaining, but the Indians finished the game on a 22-6 run to win by nine.

Ethan Bowman led Mississinawa Valley with 20 points in the loss. Also for the Blackhawks, Devan Rinderle scored 15 points, Colyn Nelson scored eight, Dalton Geesy scored four, Trent Perkins scored four, and Andrew Johns scored two.

Micaiah Cox led Fort Recovery with a game-high 24 points while Matt Bihn scored 15, Darien Sheffer scored 12, Chase Bruns scored nine, and Caleb Martin scored two.

Mississinawa Valley fell to 9-7 with the loss while Fort Recovery improved to 10-5.

MV will return to the floor on Tuesday when it plays host to Bradford.
