Greenville’s William Nibert places 4th at GWOC wrestling meet

KETTERING – Greenville’s William Nibert placed fourth in his weight class at the Greater Western Ohio Conference wrestling meet this past weekend at Trent Arena.

The Greenville wrestling team tied Trotwood-Madison for 14th place out of 18 teams in the GWOC wrestling meet, which Centerville won. Greenville and Trotwood tied for fifth place in the GWOC North behind Vandalia-Butler, Piqua, Troy and Sidney. Greenville placed ahead of Xenia, Fairborn and West Carrollton.

Nibert led the Green Wave as he finished fourth in the 182 pound class. The Greenville senior beat Sidney senior Seth Vonderhuevel 11-3 in his first match. After losing 7-4 to Fairmont senior Garett Fogel, Nibert beat Miamisburg junior Seth Campbell 12-4, pinned Xenia junior Keanton McWharter and beat Beavercreek senior Seth Rawlings 13-4. Nibert then lost the third-place match to Troy junior Davin Snyder 9-6.

Sophomore Austin Lacey pinned Springboro sophomore Reid Salzer in his first match in the 106 pound class. He then was pinned by Lebanon junior Patrick Dillon. Lacey pinned Sidney sophomore Jace Taylor then lost 8-4 to Miamisburg freshman Cole McGuire.

Freshman Dean Hurd pinned Fairborn freshman Dagan Lambert in the 113 pound class before losing a 13-0 decision to Fairmont sophomore Michael Maas. Hurd then beat Miamisburg freshman Aaron Baker 18-4 before losing 7-1 to Troy senior Ben Andrews.

Freshman Jacob Mikesell lost 7-2 to Centerville sophomore Alex Clemens then lost 18-3 to Piqua junior Nick Baker in the 120 pound class.

Freshman Joseph Edwards was pinned by Northmont freshman Hunter Terrill then was pinned by Miamisburg freshman Cameron Carnevale in the 132 pound class.

Freshman Jacob Goldsmith was pinned by Troy junior Justin Mittelstadt in the 138 pound class. He pinned Fairmont sophomore Cole Senter but then was pinned by Springfield sophomore Haiden Myers.

Junior Jeremy Eshbaugh lost an 8-7 decision to Springboro junior Peyton Charleton then pinned Northmont freshman Weston Hoening in the 145 pound class. Butler freshman Nick Coyle then beat Eshbaugh 8-2.

Sophomore Tani Mancillas was pinned by Lebanon junior John Bates in the 152 pound class. He then pinned Sidney freshman Dan Blosser before being pinned by Butler sophomore Ethan Cyrette.

Junior Christian Chalmers lost 19-4 to Wayne freshman Zarik Brown and was pinned by Beavercreek sophomore Reece Blackmore in the 160 pound class.
