2 Greenville swimmers qualify for OHSAA state meet

OXFORD – A pair of Greenville swimmers qualified for state with their performances in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II district swim meet on Friday at Miami University.

Greenville freshman Isabella Gable qualified for state in the girls 200 yard freestyle and the girls 500 yard freestyle while Greenville senior Jose’ Badell qualified in the boys 100 yard backstroke.

Gable finished third in the girls 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.25 to qualify for state. She finished seventh in the girls 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.41 to advance to the state meet.

Jose’ Badell finished eighth in the boys 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.09 to earn a spot at the state meet.

Other swimmers from Greenville and Tri-Village competed at the districts but didn’t qualify for the state meet.

Greenville’s quartet of Jose’ Badell, freshman Pablo Badell, sophomore Seth Conway and junior Josh Smith finished 18th in the boys 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.99.

Greenville’s Jose’ Badell finished 19th in the boys 100 yard butterfly in a time of 57.02.

Greenville’s Conway finished 31st in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:11.35.

Tri-Village senior Casey Puckett finished 22nd in the boys 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.81. He finished 26th in the boys 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:58.37.

Tri-Village sophomore Aubrey Morris finished 18th in the boys 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:30.13. He finished 24th in the boys 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.80.

Tri-Village freshman Edie Morris finished 29th in the girls 100 yard freestyle with a time of 58.79.

Jose’ Badell and Gable now will compete at the OHSAA Division II state meet, which will be held on Thursday and Friday at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.
