Bradford baseball team loses CCC opener to Tri-County North

LEWISBURG — Tri-County North run ruled the Bradford baseball team 19-2 in the Railroaders’ Cross County Conference opener on Tuesday.

Tri-County North scored three runs in the first inning, three in the second, seven in the third and six in the fifth while limiting Bradford to two runs in the second inning.

Bradford had five hits and five errors in the contest. North had 15 hits and two errors.

Bryson Canan went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Clay Layman went 1-for-1, Mason Justice was 1-for-2, Andy Branson went 1-for-3, and Wade Gerlach went 1-for-3. Dillon Reck also scored a run.

Branson was charged with the loss as he pitched two innings and allowed five earned runs and one unearned run on five hits, four walks and two strikeouts. Jeff Wolf pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed six earned runs and seven unearned runs on nine hits, five walks, one hit batter and one strikeout. Gerlach pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed no runs on one hit, no walks and no strikeouts.

Bradford fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the CCC with the loss. The Railroaders will play at Twin Valley South on Thursday.
