Mississinawa Valley baseball team beats Miami East for its 1st win

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley baseball team won its Cross County Conference opener on Tuesday, defeating Miami East 4-3.

Mississinawa Valley scored all four of its runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Miami East scored two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

MV had 10 hits while limiting East to two. Both teams committed two errors.

Colyn Nelson pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits, five walks and four strikeouts. Trent Collins pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out one.

Devan Rinderle went 2-for-3, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and had a RBI for Mississinawa Valley. Levi Livingston also was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Tyler Jenkinson was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run.

Kyler Guillozet was 2-for-3. Andrew Johns and Zach Dirmeyer both went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Ethan Dirksen also scored a run.

Mississinawa Valley is now 1-1 on the season. The Blackhawks will play at National Trail on Wednesday.
