Greenville softball team run rules Beavercreek

BEAVERCREEK – The Greenville softball team run ruled Beavercreek in six innings on Wednesday, winning 14-4.

Greenville took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first. After Beavercreek scored a run in the bottom half of the first inning, Greenville scored two runs in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth to lead 12-1. Beavercreek prevented the run rule in five innings by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth. In the sixth Greenville scored two runs and Beavercreek scored one to make it a 14-4 final score.

Greenville had 12 hits and three errors in the game. Beavercreek had eight hits and six errors.

Makayla Hanes went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and a run scored for Greenville. Ashton Kester was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a sacrifice fly, a RBI and two runs scored. Alli Hill went 2-for-5 with a double and a RBI.

Allison Minnich was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a RBI and a run scored. Karsyn Shaffer went 1-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and three runs scored. Jazzlyn Petry was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Cassie Cromwell was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Sydney Grote walked three times, stole a base, scored two runs and drove in one run. Lani Shilt was hit by a pitch, walked once and scored a run.

Minnich pitched four innings for Greenville, allowing one earned run on four hits, no walks and five strikeouts. Grote pitched the other two innings for the Lady Wave and allowed two earned runs and one unearned run on four hits, no walks and two strikeouts.

Greenville is now 4-0 on the season. The Wave will play host to West Carrollton at 5 p.m. Friday.
