Mississinawa Valley softball team run ruled by National Trail

GETTYSBURG – The Mississinawa Valley softball team was run ruled 13-3 by National Trail in a Cross County Conference game on Wednesday.

National Trail jumped out to a 7-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first and five runs in the second. In the third inning Mississinawa scored one run and National Trail scored five, and then in the fifth inning MV scored two and Trail scored one.

National Trail out-hit Mississinawa Valley 18 to eight in the game. Both teams made one error.

Paxton Scholl went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Mississinawa Valley. Taydem Elson was 2-for-2 with a walk, a double and a RBI. Bailey Johnson was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Leslie Dirksen went 2-for-3. Makayla Coning went 1-for-3. Cassie Emrick scored two runs.

Dirksen pitched the complete game, allowing 12 earned runs and one unearned run on 18 hits, no walks and two strikeouts.

Mississinawa Valley is now 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the CCC. The Lady Hawks will play a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ansonia.
