RUSSIA – Ashlee Voisard capped off Versailles’ comeback on Saturday win with a grand slam in the seventh inning as the Tigers beat Russia 10-5.
Russia took a 4-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first and three more in the third. Versailles tied the game with four runs in the fourth, but Russia regained the lead with a run in the fifth. Versailles tied the game once more in the sixth and scored five runs in the seventh, including four on Voisard’s grand slam, to win by five.
Versailles had 14 hits and two errors in the game. Russia had six hits and three errors.
Voisard went 1-for-1 with her grand slam for Versailles. Danielle Poor was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, a run scored and also was hit by a pitch. Kami McEldowney went 3-for-5 with a triple, a RBI and two runs scored. Aimee Powell was 2-for-5 with a double, a RBI and a run scored.
Brynna Blakeley was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Sarah Gigandet went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Hailey McEldowney was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Kate Stammen was 1-for-1 with a double. Morgan Heitkamp was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Courtney McEldowney also scored a run.
Lauren Heitkamp pitched the complete game for Versailles, allowing five runs on six hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
Versailles improved to 2-3 with the win. The Tigers will play at Celina today.
