BRADFORD – The Bradford Railroaders softball team hosted Marion Local in a cold morning match up on Saturday and won 11-4.

It was Bradford that scored first in the bottom of the first with back-to-back singles by juniors Olivia Hart and Amanda Brewer. Senior Tori Smith drew a walk, and then with back-to-back infield ground balls by sophomore Bailey Wysong and junior Haley Rosengarten the Railroaders were on the board.

After a pair of singles given up by Smith, the Railroaders stopped the threat with a nice defensive play by Brewer at shortstop and Smith with a pair of strikeouts.

The Railroaders wasted no time getting back on the board, scoring five in the second with hits from senior Ciara Yohey, sophomore Chelsea Gill, Hart, Brewer, Wysong, and Rosengarten.

“We hit well with runners in scoring position and executed great directional bunts,” Bradford coach Shon Schaffer said.

Also getting a hit in the game was Smith. Bradford out-hit Marion Local 11-7.

Smith went all seven innings on the mound for the Railroaders, striking out seven and giving up only one earned run.
