Greenville baseball team loses GWOC North opener to Troy

GREENVILLE – The Greenville baseball team lost its Greater Western Ohio Conference opener on Monday, losing 10-1 to Troy.

Troy scored six runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh while limiting Greenville to one run in the bottom of the fifth.

Troy had four hits and four errors in the game, and Greenville had two hits and five errors.

Logan Eldridge and Koom Hounshell both went 1-for-3 for Greenville. Brandon Beyke scored the Wave’s lone run.

Tyler Netzley pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs and two unearned runs on three hits, three walks, one hit batter and eight strikeouts. Beyke pitched a 1/3 of an inning, allowing one earned run on two walks and no hits. Chris Force pitched two innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit, seven walks and four strikeouts.

Greenville fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the GWOC North with the loss. Troy improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the GWOC North.

Greenville and Troy will have a rematch on Friday in Troy.
