Ansonia baseball team loses as Twin Valley South rallies late

ANSONIA – Twin Valley South rallied with five runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Ansonia baseball team 14-10 in Cross County Conference action on Friday.

After Twin Valley South scored a run in the top of the first, Ansonia responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. South regained the lead with three runs in the second and one in the third, but Ansonia scored two in the fourth to go up 6-5.

South scored one run in the fifth to tie the game and then scored three in the sixth to lead 9-6. Ansonia went ahead once more with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Twin Valley South rallied for five in the seventh to win 14-10.

Twin Valley South had 21 hits and no errors on Friday. Ansonia had 18 hits and three errors.

For Ansonia Rygh Fortkamp was 3-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base, five RBIs and two runs scored. Dane Wentworth went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, a stolen base, two RBIs and three runs scored. Jarvis Thwaits was 3-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run scored. Tyler Neal went 3-for-4 and drove in a run.

Kane Kimmel went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs scored. Lane Clark was 2-for-4, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs. Aric Barga went 1-for-4 and drove in a run. Logan Miller was 1-for-3 and walked once.

Ansonia fell to 1-9 overall 0-6 in the CCC with the loss.
