Mississinawa Valley baseball sweeps doubleheader at Fairlawn

SIDNEY – The Mississinawa Valley baseball team won both games of a doubleheader at Fairlawn on Saturday.

Mississinawa Valley won the first game 13-1 in a six inning run rule. After MV took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Fairlawn tied the game in the bottom of the second. The Blackhawks then scored two runs in the fifth and 10 in the sixth.

Mississinawa Valley had 14 hits and no errors in the game. Fairlawn had one hit and three errors.

Ethan Bowman, Colyn Nelson and Ethan Dirksen combined to throw the one-hitter for Mississinawa. Bowman, the winning pitcher, went three innings and allowed one earned run on one hit, five walks and five strikeouts. Nelson pitched two scoreless innings, allowing no hits or walks while striking out three, while Dirksen pitched one scoreless inning, allowing no hits or walks while striking out one.

Zach Dirmeyer went 3-for-4, stole two bases and scored three runs for MV. Tyler Jenkinson was 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs scored and three runs driven in. Bowman was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Levi Livingston went 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in a run.

Kyler Guillozet went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Nelson was 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Andrew Johns Devan Rinderle both were 1-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Dirksen stole a base and scored a run.

Mississinawa Valley won the other game of the doubleheader 19-3. The Blackhawks had three runs in the first, seven in the second, two in the third and seven in the fourth while the Jets scored all three of their runs in the third.

Mississinawa Valley had 11 hits and no errors in the game. Fairlawn had three hits and four errors.

Andrew Johns pitched three innings for Mississinawa Valley and allowed three earned runs on three hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

Nelson went 2-for-2 with a home run, a stolen base two runs scored and four RBIs in the game. Livingston was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Jenkinson went 2-for-3, stole a base, drove in three runs and scored three runs. Johns was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored a run.

Dirmeyer was 1-for-2, stole a base, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Trent Collins was 1-for-3, stole a base and scored two runs. Guillozet was 1-for-2 and scored a run. Rinderle scored four runs while Bowman, Dirksen and Colton Hines each scored one.
