Greenville baseball team loses GWOC game to Piqua

PIQUA – Greenville lost 8-5 to Piqua in a Greater Western Ohio Conference baseball game on Tuesday.

After Piqua took a 2-0 first inning lead, Greenville tied the game in the third inning. Piqua regained the lead with a run in the bottom half of the third inning, but Greenville went up 5-3 in the top of the fifth. Piqua tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom half of the fifth inning and scored three runs in the sixth to win by three.

Greenville had five hits and six errors in the game. Piqua had nine hits and four errors.

Kyle Mills led the Greenville offense as he was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBIs and a run scored. Logan Eldridge was 2-for-3. Tanner Ross went 1-for-4 and drove in a run. Landon Eldridge, Jacob Hounshell, Brayden York and Grant Minnich each scored a run.

AJ Bowers was charged with the loss as he went 5 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs and six unearned runs on eight hits, five walks, one hit batter and four strikeouts. Mills pitched a third of an inning and allowed no runs on one hit, no walk and no strikeouts.

Greenville fell to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the GWOC North with the loss. Piqua improved to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the GWOC North.
