VERSAILLES – Wapakoneta run ruled the Versailles softball team 16-6 in five innings on Monday.
Wapakoneta scored two runs in the top half of the first inning, and Versailles scored one in the bottom half. Wapak then added two runs in the third, eight in the fourth and four in the fifth before Versailles scored six runs in the fifth.
Versailles had eight hits and five errors in the game while Wapakoneta had 14 hits and three errors.
Aimee Powell led Versailles by going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Kami McEldowney was 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs. Sarah Gigandet was 1-for-2 with a double and drove in a run.
Lauren Heitkamp was 1-for-3 with a double and drove in a run. Kristin Langston was 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run. Hailey McEldowney went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Ashlee Voisard also scored a run.
Heitkamp pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs and 10 unearned runs on nine hits, two walks and no strikeouts. Powell pitched an inning, allowing four earned runs on five hits, no walks, one hit batter and no strikeouts.
