Mississinawa Valley baseball team loses to Union City

UNION CITY, Ind. – The Mississinawa Valley baseball team lost to crosstown rival Union City, Indiana, 9-5 on Tuesday.

Union City scored first with a run in the bottom of the second. Four MV runs in the top of the third and three Union City runs in the bottom of the third had the game tied 4-4. Union City pulled ahead again with four runs in the fourth and one in the fifth before Mississinawa scored the game’s final run in the sixth.

Mississinawa Valley had five hits and two errors in the game while Union City had 12 hits and three errors.

Devan Rinderle went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and scored two runs for Mississinawa Valley. Trent Collins was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Tyler Jenkinson scored a run and drove in a run. Zach Dirmeyer scored a run, and Colyn Nelson drove in a run.

Ethan Dirksen pitched four innings for MV, allowing seven earned runs and one unearned run on nine hits, five walks and two strikeouts. Kyler Guillozet pitched one inning, allowing an unearned run on two hits, no walks and no strikeouts. Nelson pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.
