Mississinawa Valley softball team loses to Newton

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley softball team lost 10-4 to Newton in a Cross County Conference game on Thursday.

Newton scored one run in the first inning, three in the second, three in the third and three in the fourth while Mississinawa Valley scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Mississinawa Valley had three hits and six errors in the game. Newton had nine hits and two errors.

Paxton Scholl led MV by going 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two RBIs. Taydem Elson was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Abby Livingston went 1-for-1. Leslie Dirksen walked twice and scored a run, Bailey Johnson walked once and scored a run, and Grace Livingston scored a run.

Scholl pitched 3 2/2 innings, allowing one earned run and nine unearned runs on seven hits, five walks and no strikeouts. Dirksen pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed no runs on two hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Mississinawa Valley fell to 3-11 overall and 0-6 in the CCC.
