Franklin Monroe softball team beats Mississinawa Valley

UNION CITY – Franklin Monroe beat Mississinawa Valley 9-2 in a Cross County Conference softball game on Friday.

Franklin Monroe took an early lead with two runs in the first inning, two in the second and four in the third to make it 8-0. After Mississinawa Valley scored one run in the fourth, both teams scored one run in the sixth.

Franklin Monroe had seven hits and two errors in the game while Mississinawa had four hits and four errors.

For FM Nychelle Cool was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Kinsey Goins was 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run. Morgan Bingham was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, two stolen bases and two runs. Carrie Baker was 1-for-4 with a double.

Allie Armstrong went 1-for-4 with a RBI and a run. Brigette Filbrun was 1-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases, a RBI and two runs. Emilee Morris was 1-for-3 and stole a base. Taylor Hackney stole a base and scored two runs.

For Mississinawa Valley Bailey Johnson went 1-for-3 with a triple and two runs. Paxton Scholl was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Makayla Coning and December Wright both went 1-for-3. Taydem Elson drove in a run.

Morris earned the win for Franklin Monroe as she pitched the complete game, allowing one earned run and one unearned run on four hits, no walks and five strikeouts.

Leslie Dirksen was charged with the loss for Mississinawa Valley as she pitched the complete game, allowing three earned runs and six unearned runs on seven hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
