Mississinawa Valley defeats Ansonia in a CCC baseball game

UNION CITY – Mississinawa Valley beat Ansonia 9-4 in a Cross County Conference baseball game on Thursday.

Mississinawa Valley started the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the third.

In the fourth the Blackhawks’ Colyn Nelson doubled and stole third. Kyler Guillozet then hit a sacrifice to score Nelson. After Devan Rinderle singled to left field and stole second, he scored on a RBI single by Zach Dirmeyer to make it 6-0.

In the top of the fifth Ansonia got on the scoreboard. Trevor Beam was hit by a pitch and Logan Miller hit a RBI double to left, making it 6-1.

Mississinawa Valley made it 7-1 in the bottom half of the inning. Trent Collins singled to center field. Matthew Slob, pinch running for Collins, stole third and scored on a RBI single by Kyler Guillozet.

In the sixth Ansonia’s Cody Burnfield singled to center, Rygh Fortkamp singled to left and Kane Kimmel singled to center to load the bases. Jarvis Thwaits then singled to right and Trevor Beam singled to left, making it 7-3.

In the bottom half of the inning, Dirmeyer doubled and scored on a Tyler Jenkinson RBI double into center. Andrew Johns then hit a RBI single to center to make it 9-3.

In the seventh inning Ansonia’s Fortkamp got a two-out single and Kimmel walked to put a pair of runners on. Thwaits hit a RBI single to right, making it 9-4, but Mississinawa Valley got out of the inning and got the win.

“It is nice to come out and win a game,” Mississinawa Valley coach Max Guillozet said. “We are coming off of a five-game losing streak. We were not hitting the past few games and had a few errors.

“I am hoping we can build off this win and be ready to play.”

Kyler Guillozet and Johns had two RBIs each for Mississinawa Valley. Thwaits had two RBIs for Ansonia.

Jenkinson pitched the complete game for Mississinawa and struck out seven. Logan Miller pitched four innings for Ansonia and Burnfield pitched two innings in relief, striking out one.
