Mississinawa Valley softball team earns its 1st CCC win

BRANDT – Mississinawa Valley defeated Bethel 3-2 in eight innings of Cross County Conference softball on Tuesday for its first league win of the season.

Bethel took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Mississinawa Valley scored one run in the fourth and one in the seventh to force extra innings. The Lady Hawks then scored the game-winning run in the top of the eighth.

Mississinawa Valley had six hits and one error in the game. Bethel had 10 hits and two errors.

Taydem Elson went 2-for-4 with a double for Mississinawa. Leslie Dirksen also went 2-for-4. Paxton Scholl was 1-for-3 with a walk, stole four bases and scored two runs including the game-winner.

Makayla Coning was 1-for-4 with the game-winning RBI. Abby Livingston had a RBI. Cassie Emrick stole two bases and scored the tying run to force extra innings.

Dirksen pitched the complete game for MV, allowing two unearned runs on 10 hits, two walks and nine strikeouts.

Mississinawa Valley improved to 4-18 overall and 1-11 in the CCC with the win.
