Bradford baseball team loses in extra innings to National Trail

NEW PARIS – The Bradford baseball team lost 5-4 to National Trail in eight innings of Cross County Conference baseball on Thursday.

National Trail took an early 4-0 lead with two runs in both the first and second innings. Bradford came back with two runs in the third, one in the fourth and one in the fifth to force extra innings, but Trail scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth.

National Trail out-hit Bradford eight to six in the game. Both teams committed two errors.

Mason Justice went 2-for-4, stole a base and drove in a run for Bradford. Walker Branson was 1-for-3 with a triple and scored a run. Parker Smith was 1-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run. Dillon Reck went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run. Bryant Byers was 1-for-4. Dylan Cassel scored a run.

Mason Justice was charged with the loss as he pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed one run on three hits, one walk and two strikeouts. Andy Branson pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on three hits, five walks, two hit batters and two strikeouts. Jeff Wolf pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two runs and two walks.

Bradford fell to 9-10 overall and 3-8 in the CCC with the loss.
