LEWISBURG – The Arcanum Lady Trojans defeated Tri-County North Thursday afternoon to complete an undefeated run through the Cross County Conference this season and brought home the league softball championship.

“This is a big accomplishment,” Trojans coach Rick Stone said. “There are a lot of good teams in this league.”

When you spend some time around the Arcanum squad you begin to see that this isn’t just a team of individuals but more of a family that plays softball together.

“They support each other,” Coach Stone said. “They play for one another.

“We’ve got good pitching, good defense and good hitting, and we’re going to enjoy it while we can, cause if we have one bad game come tournament time we go home.

“I hope teams in the CCC make long runs in the tournament,” Stone concluded. “Covington, North, FM, Trail, Newton, Ansonia, a lot of good teams. It’s great to be part of this conference.”

The Lady Trojans begin tournament play next Wednesday. Arcanum, the No. 1 seed, will play the winner of the Triad vs. Milton-Union game.
