Tri-Village splits a doubleheader against Troy Christian

NEW MADISON – The Tri-Village baseball team split a doubleheader against Troy Christian on Saturday, winning 5-4 and then losing 10-2.

In the first game Troy Christian took a 2-0 lead with one run in the first inning and one in the fourth. After Tri-Village scored one in the fourth and three in the fifth to lead 4-2, Troy Christian tied the game in the top half of the sixth. The Patriots then scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

Tanner Maples, who drove in Trey Frech for the winning run, was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run. Christian Ricker was 3-for-3, stole two bases and had a RBI.

Ricker also was the winning pitcher, allowing four earned runs and one unearned run on seven hits, four walks and two strikeouts in a complete game effort.

Tri-Village lost the second game 10-2.

Camren Munchel was charged with the loss as he went 1 2/3 innings. Jorden Midlam pitched 2 1/3 innings and Gage Hileman went three innings on the mound.

Jonny Wilson had a hit and a RBI. Luke Wheeler had a double.

Tri-Village’s record stands at 13-11 following the split with Troy Christian.
