FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – The Mississinawa Valley baseball team went 1-1 at the Hoosier Classic on Saturday at Northeastern High School in Indiana.
Mississinawa Valley beat Mississenawa Valley 8-6. Mississinawa Valley started off with a 4-0 lead with three runs in the first and one in the third. Mississenawa Valley scored one in the fourth and five in the fifth to lead 6-4, but Mississinawa Valley scored two in the fifth to tie the game and two in the sixth to win 8-6.
Mississinawa Valley had 11 hits and three errors while Mississenawa Valley had seven hits and two errors.
Tyler Jenkinson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Levi Livingston was 2-for-4 with two runs. Trent Collins went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Andrew Johns was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run.
Zach Dirmeyer went 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run. Colyn Nelson was 1-for-1, stole two bases and scored a run. Colton Hines went 1-for-1 and scored a run.
Johns pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs and one unearned run on four hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Matthew Slob pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing no runs on one hit, one walk and one strikeout. Collins pitched a scoreless inning, allowing two hits, no walks and one strikeout. Nelson pitched a scoreless inning, striking out the side.
Mississinawa Valley then lost 9-0 to host Northeastern.
Northeastern scored one run in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth while holding MV scoreless.
Mississinawa Valley had two hits and no errors while Northeastern had eight hits and no errors.
Jenkinson went 1-for-2 and was hit by a pitch. Ethan Dirksen went 1-for-2.
Devan Rinderle pitched four innings and allowed five earned runs on five hits, four walks and two strikeouts. Livingston pitched an inning, allowing three earned runs on no hits, three walks and no strikeouts. Kyler Guillozet pitched one inning, allowing an earned run on three hits, one walk and no strikeouts.
