WEST CARROLLTON – Ashton Kester and Allison Minnich represented Greenville once more on the softball diamond at the Southwest District senior all-star softball game on Thursday at West Carrollton.

Both Lady Wave players had strong games despite the North team losing 6-3. Minnich pitched three shutout innings for the North while Kester was 1-for-2 at the plate.

Kester and Minnich made up two-thirds of the Greenville’s senior class during the 2016 season along with Jazzlyn Petry.

Greenville’s seniors, all of whom were four-year varsity starters, helped lead the Lady Wave to Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division championships in all four years of their high school careers. This year the Lady Wave shared the division title with Piqua and Troy.

The Lady Wave seniors also helped lead Greenville to the regional championship of the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament three times in the past four years. This year they lost to Hamilton Ross in the regional championship game, falling one win short of a trip to the state final four in Akron.

Greenville, which was ranked sixth in Division II in the final Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association state poll of the season, finished the year with a 26-7 record.

All three of Greenville’s seniors will continue their softball careers at the college level. Kester, who played shortstop for the Lady Wave, is committed to the University of Findlay. Both Minnich and Petry are committed to Sinclair Community College.
