RICHMOND, Ind. – It takes several pages to print out the full list of awards on Mallory Livingston’s Indiana University East volleyball biography.

The Mississinawa Valley graduate can add one last honor to cap her Red Wolf career – IU East Women’s Athlete of the Year for the 2015-16 school year.

“I would just say that winning this award again as a senior was just the icing on the cake for my career at IU East,” said Livingston, who completed her Bachelor of Science in psychology at IU East in December. “I really enjoyed my time as a Red Wolf, and it was great to be able to graduate on such a good note.”

Livingston’s IU East volleyball legacy includes:

  • NAIA All-America honors in 2014 and 2015
  • Conference Player of the Year honors in 2014 and 2015
  • Three AVCA all-region appearances
  • First-team recognition on the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division Volleyball Team
  • Four appearances on the all-conference team
  • Four appearances on the academic all-conference team

And that’s just a small portion of the list.

“Mallory Livingston is an athlete that will be talked about long after she’s graduated – she made such an impact on this program, department and school academically,” IU East volleyball coach Abby Niekamp said. “I’m so proud of her for winning the Athlete of the Year Award. It shows how well her presence was felt in the athletic department.

“One thing that many people might not know about her is that her teammates called her ‘Mom.’ She not only set great examples for her underclassmen, but she helped them follow that example as well.”

Livingston also repeated as the IU East Female Academic Athlete of the Year.

The Academic Athlete of the Year award goes to the IU East student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA. The honoree must be a junior or senior and must have been enrolled at IU East for at least three semesters.

Livingston currently is pursuing a graduate degree at Wright State University.

She appeared on the IU East Chancellor’s List – for students with a 4.0 GPA – after all of her semesters at IU East.

“I am especially happy about this award because I take my academics very seriously, and it was my goal to finish out my senior year with a 4.0,” Livingston wrote. “Being able to accomplish that was very rewarding.”
