ARCANUM – The Greenville boys finished 15th out of 19 teams at the Greater Western Ohio Conference’s preseason golf meet on Friday at Beechwood Golf Course.
Greenville shot a 404 as a team and finished sixth in the American North. Vandalia-Butler won the American North title with a 306, Troy finished second with a 312, Piqua was third with a 381, Sidney placed fourth with a 384, and Tippecanoe was fifth with a 399.
Centerville was the top finisher overall in the GWOC with a 293, Springboro was second with a 300, Butler finished third with its 3016, Troy was fourth with its 312, Fairmont placed fifth with a 319, Miamisburg was sixth with a 321, Lebanon finished seventh with a 332, Beavercreek placed eighth with a 340, Northmont was ninth with a 357, Springfield finished 10th with a 362, Piqua and Xenia tied for 11th with a 381, Sidney was 13th with its 384, Tippecanoe was 14th with its 399, Fairborn finished 16th with a 423, Wayne was 17th with a 463, Stebbins placed 18th with a 512, and West Carrollton finished 19th with a 539.
Jason Shields led Greenville by shooting an 18 hole round of 81 and placing 23rd overall. Also for the Green Wave, Connor Null finished 65th with a 99, Matt Hounshell placed 82nd with a 111, Clayton Klosterman was 89th with a 113, and Andrew Kiryluk finished 90th with a 113.
Springboro’s Josh Gilkison was the overall winner with a 3-under-par 69. Troy’s Holden Scribner was the top American North golfer with a round of 70.
