VERSAILLES – Arcanum’s Carter Gray and Steven Vanatta led the way as the Cross County Conference held its preseason meet on Friday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club.
The CCC golfers completed nine holes during the conference preview. Each team was split into three pairs of golfers, who competed together in three holes with alternating shots, three holes with a scramble format and three holes with a best ball format.
Gray and Vanatta recorded the best score with a 37 for nine holes. National Trail’s Plakenhorn and Petitt finished second with a 38.
The teams of Newton’s Jamison and Zielinkski and Franklin Monroe’s Jeremy Bridenbaugh and Noah Koffer tied for third with a round of 39.
Miami East’s pair of Martinez and Henley plus Tri-County North’s Tinicher and Booso tied for fifth as they both fired rounds of 39.
Newton and Tri-County North tied for the team championship as they both shot a 128. Franklin Monroe finished third with a 133, Arcanum was fourth with a 137, National Trail placed fifth with a 146, Miami East was sixth with a 148, Tri-Village finished seventh with a 159, Covington was eighth with a 167, Bethel finished ninth with a 182, and Mississinawa Valley finished 10th with a 193. Ansonia, Bradford and Twin Valley South didn’t have enough golfers to record a team score.
