COLDWATER – Versailles junior cross country runner Joe Spitzer won a Midwest Athletic Conference championship on Thursday in Coldwater.
Joe Spitzer finished first among the 127 runners in 16:00.30, defeating St. Henry’s Devin Huelskamp by more than 48 seconds for the championship in the high school boys race.
As a team the Versailles boys finished fourth behind champion St. Henry, runner up Parkway and third place Minster. Marion Local finished fifth, Fort Recovery was sixth, Coldwater was seventh, and Delphos St. John’s finished eighth.
Versailles finished third in the high school girls race behind champion Minster and runner up St. Henry. Coldwater finished fourth, Marion Local was fifth, Fort Recovery placed sixth, New Bremen was seventh, St. John’s finished eighth, Parkway was ninth, and New Knoxville finished 10th.
Liz Watren led the Versailles girls by finishing 12th overall in a time of 19:41.41. Also for the Lady Tigers, Megan B.
