Bradford’s Karmen Knepp wins CCC cross country championship

COVINGTON – Bradford sophomore Karmen Knepp won the high school girls race at the Cross County Conference cross country championships on Saturday in Covington.

Knepp finished the league championship race in 19:17, edging Covington senior Anna Dunn by one second for the win in a field of 76 runners.

In the team standings the best performance out of Darke County came from the Franklin Monroe boys and girls, who both finished third overall.

Covington won the high school girls race, Miami East finished second, Franklin Monroe was third, Twin Valley South finished fourth, Ansonia was fifth, Arcanum finished sixth, Tri-County North was seventh, Tri-Village finished eighth, and Mississinawa Valley finished ninth.

National Trail won the high school boys race, Miami East finished second, Franklin Monroe was third, Arcanum finished fourth, Covington finished fifth, Newton was sixth, Twin Valley South finished seventh, Tri-County North was eighth, Bradford finished ninth, and Ansonia finished 10th.

The top finisher among Darke County boys was Franklin Monroe’s Cole Good, who finished third overall in a time of 17:06. Also for the Jets, Zach Gilliland finished 14th in 18:07, John Myers finished 17th in 18:15, Ross Rhayer finished 32nd in 19:08, Jacob Meyer finished 44th in 20:05, Isaac Schmitmeyer finished 54th in 20:59, Justin Chen finished 58th in 21:19, Alex Schmitmeyer finished 62nd in 21:43, Jonathan Chen finished 84th in 25:40, Hunter Willoughby finished 85th in 25:48, and Adrian Nelson finished 86th in 25:59.

Tanner Delk led Arcanum’s boys by finishing seventh overall in 17:40. Also for the Trojans, Isaac Stephens finished 16th in 18:13, Chance Klipstine finished 20th in 18:22, Dakota White finished 45th in 20:10, Ethan Moores finished 65th in 21:50, Mitchel Wogomon finished 70th in 22:44, Jimmy Barry finished 74th in 23:42, and Auris Alderman finished 83rd in 25:37.

Jay Roberts led the Bradford boys as he finished 25th overall in a time of 18:37. Also for the Railroaders, Jackson Moore finished 28th in 18:52, Shane Bryan finished 61st in 21:22, Kurt Hoover finished 64th in 21:47, and Joe Roth finished 87th in 26:31.

Brandon Thornhill led the Ansonia boys, finishing 53rd overall in 20:56. Also for the Tigers, Michael Hall finished 68th in 21:58, Daniel Shaner finished 69th in 22:36, Tyler Neal finished 71st in 22:45, and Jacob Vietor finished 82nd in 25:31.

Landen Fraylick led Tri-Village’s boys as he finished 50th overall with a time of 20:14. Also for the Patriots, Kamron Berghoff finished 72nd in 23:20, Cameron Armstrong finished 76th in 24:09, and Tanner Jones finished 89th in 27:56.

Dalton Marker led the Mississinawa Valley boys by finishing 59th in 21:20. Also for the Blackhawks, Kaine Daniels finished 88th in 27:08.

Bethel’s Korry Hamlin won the high school boys race, which included 92 runners, with a time of 16:40.

Selene Weaver led Franklin Monroe’s girls as she finished 13th overall in 21:34. Also for the Lady Jets, Audrey Cable finished 14th in 21:47, Nicole Brocious finished 23rd in 23:12, Danielle McVey finished 27th in 23:56, Cayley Baker finished 33rd in 24:38, Taylor Hackney finished 52nd in 27:20, Scout Meyer finished 56th in 28:28, Keara Knepshield finished 60th in 29:26, and Hannah Berry finished 61st in 30:28.

Olivia Wright led the Ansonia girls, finishing 21st overall in a time of 22:58. Also for the Lady Tigers, Katie Werts finished 24th in 23:23, Skyler Marker finished 26th in 23:56, Stefani Garrett finished 41st in 25:45, Amber Bergman finished 45th in 26:26, Aleesha Gates finished 72nd in 36:14, and Millie Widener finished 73rd in 36:33.

Marcy Bradshaw led the Arcanum girls by finishing sixth overall in 20:10. Also for the Lady Trojans, Mara Wetzel finished 19th in 22:30, Kayla O’Daniel finished 32nd in 24:37, Lana Johnson finished 59th in 29:21, Makennah Hutcheson finished 70th in 33:56, Mekenna Gunckel finished 71st in 35:56, and Marlee Hess finished 76th in 40:25.

Lissa Siler led Tri-Village’s girls as she finished 34th overall in a time of 24:46. Also for the Lady Patriots, Shelby Holzapfel finished 40th in 25:31, Becky O’Connor finished 43rd in 26:02, MacKenzie Stucky finished 50th in 27:02, and Kathryn Combs finished 68th in 32:50.

Casey Carrico led the Mississinawa Valley girls, finishing 62nd overall in 30:29. Also for the Lady Hawks, Isabella Barga finished 63rd in 30:29, Whitney King finished 65th in 31:22, Abby Abel finished 69th in 33:21, Lindsay Wright finished 74th in 38:45, and Piper Phillips finished 75th in 38:46.

Knepp led Bradford’s girls with her first place finish. Also for the Lady Railroaders, Elisa Martinez finished 44th in 26:18.
