Versailles volleyball team receives 1st place vote in OHSVCA state rankings

COLUMBUS – For the first time this season Versailles received a first place vote in the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association state rankings.

In the seventh poll of the 2016 season the Versailles volleyball team received one first place vote. Additionally, the Lady Tigers also moved up two spots in the Division III poll to No. 9 in the state, which is a season-best ranking for the team.

Versailles bypassed Eastwood and Newark Catholic in the Division III rankings this week. The Tigers remain behind Gilmour Academy, Huron, Coldwater, Tuscarawas Valley, Buckeye Trail, Highland, Utica and Lutheran West.

Versailles has been ranked in every OHSVCA state poll this season, ranging from ninth to 13th in the Division III rankings. Versailles is the lone Darke County team to be ranked in the OHSVCA state poll this season.

A number of other teams with Darke County connections are ranked in this week’s poll. Centerville from the Greater Western Ohio Conference is ranked No. 18 in Division I, Coldwater from the Midwest Athletic Conference is ranked No. 3 in Division III, St. Henry from the MAC is ranked No. 12 in Division III, Miami East from the Cross County Conference is ranked No. 16 in Division III, New Bremen from the MAC is ranked No. 5 in Division IV, Marion Local from the MAC is ranked No. 7 in Division IV, Minster from the MAC is ranked No. 13 in Division IV, and Delphos St. John’s from the MAC is ranked No. 16 in Division IV.
