Versailles boys basketball team beats New Bremen

VERSAILLES – The Versailles boys basketball team beat New Bremen 78-48 in a Midwest Athletic Conference game on Friday.

Versailles took a double-digit lead in the first quarter, 23-13, and extended its advantage to 43-26 by halftime. The Tigers increased their lead to 64-34 in the third quarter en route to the 30-point victory.

Justin Ahrens led Versailles with a game-high 19 points. Also for the Tigers, AJ Ahrens scored 12 points, Keaton McEldowney scored 11, Austin Knapke scored 10, Alex Wendel scored 10, Cole Niekamp scored 6, Connor Custenborder scored 5, and Kyle Jones scored 5.

Nolan Bornhorst led New Bremen with 16 points. Also for the Cardinals, Brandon Heitkamp scored 10 points, Avery Powers scored 8, Luke Vonderhaar scored 6, Levi Clem scored 4, Koby Paul scored 3, and Max Messick scored 1.

Versailles improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the MAC with the win. New Bremen fell to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the MAC.
