Tri-Village’s Allie Downing, Franklin Monroe’s Abbey Moore earn top CCC girls basketball honors

DARKE COUNTY – Franklin Monroe’s Abbey Moore and Tri-Village’s Allie Downing earned the Cross County Conference’s top honors for the 2016-17 girls basketball season.

Downing was named the CCC girls basketball player of the year. The Tri-Village senior, who is committed to play college basketball for Belmont Abbey College, averaged 17.3 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game and 3.0 steals per game for the conference champion Patriots.

Moore led Franklin Monroe, whose top three scorers were freshmen, to a 14-9 overall record after going 2-20 last year.

Along with Downing, Arcanum’s Stevie Johnting, Bradford’s Mandi Bates, Franklin Monroe’s Corina Conley, Mississinawa Valley’s Kelsie Hunt and Tri-Village’s Danika Mann were named first team all-CCC.

Ansonia’s Trinity Henderson, Arcanum’s Gracie Garno, Franklin Monroe’s Audrey Cable, Tri-Village’s Rachel Miller and Tri-Village’s Emma Printz were named second team all-CCC.

Ansonia’s Jailyn Thwaits, Arcanum’s Brittany Kinney, Bradford’s Oliva Hart, Franklin Monroe’s Belle Cable, Mississinawa Valley’s Mikayla Stump and Tri-Village’s Trisa Porter made the conference’s special mention team.

Tri-Village won the CCC girls basketball championship with a perfect 12-0 record. Covington finished second with a 11-1 record, Arcanum finished third at 10-2, Franklin Monroe finished fourth at 8-4, and Miami East and Newton tied for fifth at 7-5.

Ansonia finished seventh with a 6-6 record, Bethel finished eighth at 5-7, National Trail and Tri-County North tied for ninth at 4-8, Bradford finished 11th at 3-9, Mississinawa Valley finished 12th at 1-11, and Twin Valley South finished 13th at 0-12.
