GREENVILLE – Greenville’s baseball team improved to 3-0 with an 11-3 victory against Wayne on Tuesday in Greenville.
Greenville took an early 3-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the first and one run in the second inning. After Wayne reduced its deficit to 3-2 with runs in the third and fourth innings, Greenville responded with six runs in the bottom of the fourth and two in the fifth to lead 11-2. Wayne then scored the game’s final run in the sixth inning.
Greenville out-hit Wayne 15 to six in Tuesday’s game. Both teams committed two errors.
Greenville’s Tanner Ross went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Logan Eldridge was 3-for-4,stole a base, scored three runs and drove in two runs. Peter Pandey was 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Jason Shields was 2-for-4, stole a base and scored a run.
Brandon Beyke was 1-for-2, walked once, was hit by a pitch and scored a run. Kyle Mills was 1-for-3, walked, stole two bases, scored a run and drove in a run. Nathaniel Ridgeway was 1-for-3 and scored a run. Tyler Beyke was 1-for-4 and stole a base. Landon Eldridge walked once, was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored two runs. Garrett Strait stole a base and scored a run.
Mills earned the win as he pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run and two unearned runs on six hits, no walks and four strikeouts. Brandon Beyke pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and one strikeout. Tyler Beyke pitched a perfect inning in relief, striking out two.
