Arcanum baseball team beats Twin Valley South in extra innings

WEST ALEXANDRIA – Arcanum beat Twin Valley South 8-5 in a nine-inning Cross County Conference baseball game on Thursday.

Arcanum took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top half of the first inning, but Twin Valley South went up 4-1 with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. After the Panthers increased their lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning, the Trojans scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5 and force extra innings. Arcanum then scored three runs in the ninth inning to earn the victory.

Arcanum out-hit Twin Valley South seven to six in the game. Both teams committed three errors.

Wade Meeks earned the win for Arcanum.

Meeks also was one of the Trojans’ leaders at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with four runs. Evan Atchley was 3-for-5 and drove in two runs. Ben Sease was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Arcanum improved to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the CCC with the win.
