Mississinawa Valley softball team wins at Miami East

CASSTOWN – Mississinawa Valley beat Miami East 12-11 in eight innings of Cross County Conference softball on Thursday.

Mississinawa Valley took an early 4-0 lead with two runs in both the first and second innings. Miami East went up 7-4 with five runs in the third inning and two in the fifth.

MV forced extra innings by scoring one run in the sixth and two in the seventh, tying the score at 7-7. Mississinawa scored five runs in the eighth inning and held Miami East to four to win by one run.

Mississinawa Valley and Miami East both had 16 hits in Thursday’s game. Miami East committed two errors while Mississinawa Valley had none.

Kinsie Blocher went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three stolen bases and two runs for Mississinawa Valley. Paxton Scholl was 3-for-5 with a triple, four stolen bases, three runs and two RBI. Bailey Johnson was 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Lindsay Johns was 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Jolie Elson was 1-for-2 with a double and a run. Taydem Elson went 1-for-3, walked once, was hit by a pitch, stole a base, drove in a run and scored two runs. Makayla Coning was 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs. Lupe Arrona was 1-for-2 and drove in a run. Trinity Konwiczka was hit by a pitch and drove in two runs.

Scholl pitched the complete game for Mississinawa Valley, allowing 11 runs on 16 hits, no walks, one hit batter and three strikeouts.

Mississinawa Valley improved to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the CCC with the win.
