Braford baseball team loses 2 games at Marion Local

MARIA STEIN – The Bradford baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Marion Local on Saturday.

Bradford lost the first game 1-0 with Marion Local scoring the game’s lone run in the bottom half of the third inning.

Marion Local had three hits and no errors in the first of two five-inning games while Bradford had two hits and two errors.

Alex Swabb went 1-for-1 with a walk for Bradford. Bryson Canan was 1-for-2. Parker Smith walked once and stole two bases.

Smith pitched the complete game for Bradford, allowing one unearned run on three hits, one walk and five strikeouts.

Marion Local then won game two 13-2.

Marion struck first with two runs in the bottom half of the first inning. After the Railroaders tied the game in the top of the second, the Flyers regained the lead with three runs in the bottom half of the inning then added seven runs in the third and one in the fourth for the 13-2 final score.

Marion Local out-hit Bradford nine to five in game two. Both teams committed one error.

Walker Branson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run for Bradford. Bryant Byers was 2-for-3, stole a base and scored a run. Noah Hamilton was 1-for-1 with a RBI. Mason Justice was 1-for-3 and stole a base.

Eric Sanders was charged with the loss in game two as he pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits, one walk, two hit batters and two strikeouts. Jeff Wolf pitched an inning and allowed six earned runs on two hits, two walks and three hit batters. Josh Phillips pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed one earned run and one unearned run on three hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

Bradford fell to 1-5 on the season with Saturday’s losses.
