Versailles baseball team shuts out Covington

VERSAILLES – The Versailles baseball team shut out Covington, winning Monday’s game 9-0.

Versailles scored one run in the second inning, two in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth while holding Covington scoreless.

Versailles had eight hits and one error on Monday while Covington had four hits and three errors.

Versailles’ Kyle Subler went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple, two stolen bases, two RBI and a run. Keaton McEldowney was 1-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. Isaac Ruhenkamp was 1-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Noah Richard was 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs.

Noah Grisez was 1-for-4 with a RBI and a stolen base. Austin Knapke went 1-for-3 and walked once. Jacob Heitkamp was 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run. Kurtis Rutschilling went 1-for-1. Cole Neikamp walked twice, scored a run and drove in a run. Zach Griesdorn walked once and scored two runs.

Richard was the winning pitcher for Versailles as he pitched five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Elliot Bruns pitched two innings in relief, allowing one unearned run on one hit, one walk and two strikeouts.

Versailles improved to 4-0 with Monday’s win.
