Mississinawa Valley baseball team beats National Trail

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley baseball team beat National Trail 11-4 in a Cross County Conference game on Tuesday.

National Trail scored first with a run in the top of the second, but Mississinawa responded with three runs in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth to lead 10-1. After Trail scored three runs in the top of the fifth, MV scored the game’s final run in the bottom half of the inning.

Mississinawa Valley had 10 hits and three errors in the game while National Trail had five hits and four errors.

Andrew Johns went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI and a run for Mississinawa Valley. Casey Rust was 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, a RBI and two runs. Trent Collins was 1-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI.

Zac Longfellow was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and two RBI. Cameron Shimp was 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs. Ethan Dirksen was 1-for-4 with a stolen base, a run and a RBI. Max Dirmeyer was 1-for-3 with a RBI and two runs. Kyler Guillozet stole a base, scored a run and drove in a run.

Dirksen pitched four innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Shimp pitched three innings and allowed one unearned run on no hits, two walks and one strikeout.
